About The Prince Edward County Arts Council

The Arts Council’s goal is to enrich the life of the County by encouraging artists and artisans in their work and to promote our arts community as an important part of the fabric of life in the community.

Council programs and activities include

  • The presentation of five major productions annually:

Art in the County — A two week juried exhibition and sale featuring outstanding local artists held at the heritage Old Town Hall.

The Prince Edward County Jazz Festival — Six days and nights of the best Canadian jazz artists performing at the historic Regent Theatre and at County-wide venues

The Prince Edward County Music Festival — Three evenings of magnificent classical music bridging the old and the new with renowned guest musicians.

The Maker’s Hand — A prestigious show and sale featuring selected artisans from Eastern Ontario.

The Prince Edward County Studio & Gallery Tour — A special 3-day event, the third weekend in September, when selected juried artists and County galleries welcome visitors to their homes and work places to share and sell their art works and demonstrate techniques.

  • Art in the Community — a rotating exhibit in public spaces in the County showcasing County artists and their work.
  • Artscene — a regular e-news bulletin for members with current, up-to-date information about new arts opportunities and notices of events of interest to the membership.

  • An annual Student Arts Award of $500 awarded to a talented County student graduating from high school and going on to post-secondary education in the arts. The award is supported by a new endowment fund. As the fund grows, so will the size and number of annual awards.
  • For the second year in a row, the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival will present the Rising Young Star Award of $1000 to the most exceptional and deserving young jazz musician. Under the auspices of the Ken Page Memorial Trust, a benevolent fund established in 1999 by Anne Page, in association with the Downtown Toronto Jazz Society, the award is designed to encourage emerging jazz talent and offer them the opportunity to do something they can not do elsewhere, play alongside some of the Jazz Greats as part of this festival.

In addition, the Council...

  • Is an active partner in Taste the County and other community development initiatives.
  • Supports County cultural and arts activities with financial and in-kind contributions.
