Art in the Community
By hanging County artists’ work in local public places, Art in the Community fulfills two purposes: to bring art into this community’s life, every day; and to honour the artists who contribute so much to Prince Edward County’s identity.

PECAC understands that art is for everyone in the community. By displaying our members’ work in public places, we promote the appreciation of the arts, we enhance the environment of the venues and we provide an opportunity for artists to show their considerable talent.

CALL FOR ARTISTS:
CYCLE 3, PECAC ART IN THE COMMUNITY
Deadline: March 30th
At this time we invite artists who are members of PECAC to participate in our next cycle of Art in the Community which will run from May through October 2012. We request your response to participate by March 30, 2012. Email: patsy784@yahoo.com
The Prince Edward County Arts Council is pleased to report on its Art in the Community Program. This program is designed to increase the exposure of our member artists’ work and share this great bounty with our community by exhibiting works in public buildings. Presently in our 2nd cycle, there are more than 78 works by 29 artists on display at Shire Hall, the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, the Edward Building, the Regent Theatre and the Prince Edward Family Health Team Clinic. Although this is primarily an “awareness” program, we are pleased to report 5 sales to date.
The only requirement for participation is current membership in PECAC. This is not a juried program and PECAC takes no commission. There is an “Agreement” between the artists and PECAC indicating that the artist assumes the liability for the work, and an “Agreement” with the venue indicating that the venue acknowledges maintenance of a reasonable and secure environment. All works in all mediums (limited space for 3 dimensional works) are welcome and we allocate those works based on the number and available space across all venues. Our committee is responsible for the hanging of the works, and creates accompanying cards for each work identifying the artist, title, sales price, and artist contact information.
If you wish to participate in this cycle, please include your name, contact info, title, medium used, size and sales price of the works you wish to submit. You must be a member of the PEC Arts Council and members may submit up to 4 artworks per person. Shortly after March 30rd we will be corresponding with each confirmed participant with a letter detailing the logistics including dates, drop-off locations etc.
To confirm your participation, please respond with the above information to Patsy Haugh via e-mail: patsy784@yahoo.com
If you are not yet a member of PECAC and wish to join please sign up today.
We look forward to hearing from you and we would be delighted to be able to share your work with our community. We would also welcome volunteers who would like to be part of our committee.
