Art in the County
Summer begins in Prince Edward County when our renowned artists and artisans submit their work to a jury of distinguished outside experts. On Art in the County’s opening night, the jury’s selections—more than 100 pieces—are unveiled. The ten works singled out for Jurors’ Choice Awards and Honourable Mentions are announced. Then, during Art in the County’s three-week run, visitors are invited to agree or disagree with the jurors’ citations: by voting for the People’s Choice, which is awarded on Art in the County’s closing night.
I have lived in Prince Edward County since 2000. I joined PECAC that year, and since then, I have served on a number of its committees. As an artist, I know that without PECAC’s support, Art in the County could not have grown, as it has, to be one of the largest and most respected juried shows in Ontario.
