Eduarda Sousa is an oil painter who enjoys the tactile, sensual and rich nature of her medium. She paints the everyday objects of her life that includes herself which she uses as subject matter. She paints what her gaze falls upon. she aims to be truthful to to her visual perception, without stylistic embellishments or personal dramatics.
Eduarda graduated from The Ontario College of Art and Guelph University with a Major in Fine Arts .She has been exhibiting her work since the 1980's. She does commissions and has exhibited her works in Toronto, Europe, Belleville and Prince Edward County. Most recently taking part in Art in the Community and Art in the County, Juried exhibition. Eduarda's influence include Rembrandt, Cezanne and Lucian Freud along the way. She has worked with children from Kindergarten to grade 8 in the public school system, teaching art and organizing recycled fashion shows by the students. She now paints in her studio/gallery, The Driveshed, in Prince Edward County.
