Glen Wallis

Glen Wallis enjoys experimenting with different materials and processes. As a result mixed media holds a natural attraction for him.  Wallis was born in Montreal and is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a diploma in Art History along with a degree in Sociology.   Also a skilled designer and carpenter, Glen worked in the design build industry for many years.   Presently in his art he is exploring the connection between art and mass production fabrication. Inspired by the Russian born, American Sculptor Louise Nevelson’s work of the mid 20th century, in his “COMPOSITION” series Wallis uses discarded objects and cast-off scraps in these recycled sculptural works. Commissioned wall compositions also include specific items provided by clients. Using variations of the cube as the groundwork for his compositions, Wallis creates notable wall-like, collage driven reliefs.

Wallis is also an encaustic artist.  His painting “Patchwork”, was juried into the 2014 Art in the County. He has also collaborated on 2 additional pieces with his wife encaustic artist Susan Wallis, bringing together their creative talents to produce “Let us Show You” and “Put a Bird on It”, both juried into the 2014 Art in the County.

Most recently Wallis'Composition series was juried into the 2015 Interior Design Show in Toronto.

Glen and his wife Susan reside in Cherry Valley and in addition to their creative pursuits run an award winning bed & breakfast,  AWAY in the County.
