Harry Van Dyke

After graduating from Fanshawe College in Air Pollution Control and then working in construction for two years, it was time to start something completely different. I had always created art work in High School and even though it didn't seem a way to pay for the bills, I scraped together all I had drawn and applied to OCA. Somehow I got in and was on my way.

I attended OCA from 1973 to 1977. After graduating from the General Studies Department I worked the the school for three years as a technical assistant in the Plastics Department. This led to a job in special effects for TV commercials at Henry Piersig and Associates, then set design for Nelvana, then a point-of-purchase model-maker for Gorrie Advertising and finally a pattern maker for Expert Pattern.

After having some health problems I started my own business renovating homes which I still do. Throughout this time I always painted, mainly large abstract drip paintings and process painting using square shapes.

Some shows include: Carleton Gallery, Studio Show '84, Gallery 76, Mobili Designs, Gairloch Gallery, and Ontario Society of Artists. Some collections include: Adamson Architects, Rolm Corporation, Franklin Construction, K Mart Canada, as well as many private collections.
