PEC Jazz Festival

A five-day celebration of jazz held annually in August, the festival features national and international jazz greats as well as emerging stars. The program ranges from concerts in Picton’s Regent Theatre to more intimate events –in County wineries and restaurants–and late-night jam sessions in local pubs.

PECAC has always been very supportive of the Jazz Festival. In fact, without PECAC, the festival would not be where it is today.

Spring Jazz at the Regent

A near capacity crowd at the Regent Theatre on Saturday April 14th were thrilled by the sounds of The Brian Barlow Big Band and special guest vocalist Barbra Lica.
Also on hand were close to 60 student performers who had just finished the two day intensive TD Jazz Education Program from the Napanee District Secondary School Jazz Band, the Nepean All-City Jazz Band, and the Agincourt Collegiate Institute. Songs and medleys from legendary jazz artists were heard such as  ”Mercy Mercy Mercy,” “High Maintenance,” “Save Your Love For Me,” Duke Ellington’s “Love You Madly” and George Gershwin’s “Fascinating Rhythm.” The audience swayed, toe tapped and showed their sincere appreciation by requesting an encore for all that jazz!
