Rhonda is an abstract expressionist painter of nature. She paints outside whenever possible from her new studio in Bloomfield, Prince Edward County. For over 25 years, she has had her studio and raised her family in the heart of Toronto in the Junction area. She comes from a formal design background, trained at Ryerson University. Rhonda has worked as a papermaker and illustrator before turning her love to painting. Her illustrations and paintings are used on greeting cards, in children's books and for corporate accounts. They appear both in print and in galleries throughout Canada and the U.S.
In her work, she uses an organic technique that marries the impasto of paint into a rapid expression of textures, tones and shapes through layers of collage, gesso, charcoal, and graphite all the while carving back to reveal the raw earthy under layer. This pushes her expression to become more muscular and authentic using nature as the source. Be sure to visit rhondanolan.com to see more of her work.
