Vera Soltykewych

Vera Soltykewych made a move to Prince Edward County from Toronto in April of 2016. Years of cottage weekend trips to the county, emerged an ongoing love affair for the beautiful area.

Vera's passion for art began at an early age, picking up a brush whenever her busy musical childhood allowed.

Vera studied painting and drawing at the Banff Centre for Arts, graphic design at Grant McEwan University, fashion illustration at the faculty of extension at the University of Alberta and courses in costume design at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto, as well through independent studies. Vera has held exhibitions in Edmonton and Toronto.

"I am endured with the image of a subject that forms its own individuality through my work".

When Vera's only son, Sasha, passed away suddenly in July of 2015 at the age of 22, the personal move to the country from the city made the only sense. Vera's transformation of her home into a studio and gallery is a work in progress. She calls her gallery, "SASHA GALLERY", in honour of her son. Plus it's a gorgeous name. Vera has twin daughters, one residing in Montreal, the other in Toronto. "I live in the middle".
